We have had this refrigerator just about 3 years now. Since we have been under quarantine, it has stopped cooling 3 times. I just called for service AGAIN today because the freezer isn't freezing. The freezer is rather empty (since it's only been 2 and a half weeks since the last repair, I haven't restocked again). Every time it happens, you have to wait at least a week for service (Best Buy outsources their refrigerator repair). Food spoils, the inconvenience of needing a cooler or putting things in the neighbor's fridge. First the freezer, in a few hours the fridge won't be cooling. Three times in 4 months...this is ridiculous...especially for the price we paid. We were expecting top quality but are extremely disappointed.

2016 version of this model: This refrigerator stopped working less than 4 years after purchase. Calls to LG Service Center (SC) over the course of 4 days has accomplished nothing. First call-told we would get a call from an Authorized Service Provider (ASP) within 24 hrs. Called back after 24 hrs, but SC had just closed. Called the following morning. Asked if I was sure I hadn't missed a call, text or VM. No, had not. Told a report would be sent to appropriate department and we would receive a call by the end of the day. Told her I would call back before closing if I had not heard anything. Called back. I got the same canned responses about their process. When I pointed out that almost 48 hrs had already passed and it was not reasonable to ask me to blindly wait for a call that was unlikely to come the rep put me on hold. Came back to say there was some sort of dispatch problem with the ASP. He would cancel the original service request, start a new service request with a different provider, we would hear from Auth Svc Provider within 24-48 hrs, but be aware they were 7 days out scheduling. 48 hrs later, nothing. Called again. Told we will have to wait for the call. Asked to speak to a supervisor in order to escalate this. Put on hold. Hold music stopped after 10 min. Call not disconnected, but not answered 40 min later. I have no faith this will be resolved any time soon, if ever.

Issues with compressor in the long run

We have had this refrigerator for 3 years. I loved it until the compressor stopped working. This was an expensive fridge. I wish I got more years out of it.

No Drip Tray

This is a good refrigerator. We have it for only few weeks. Only thing i see missing is a Drip Tray to catch water , when some one has over filled glass of water. It gets all over on floor. Our previous refrigerator had drip tray which saved lots of cleaning floor.

LG should stop making Refrigerators.

When I say LG makes the WORST refrigerators, it is based on my experiences in the last 7 year. Many of the review are from folks who just had their LG delivered. They love it, it's beautiful, lots of gadgets, etc etc. They will likely be singing a new song soon. I am currently waiting on Lowes Service Dept top call me back to schedule an appointment for my LF that this morning failed for the 2nd time in 7 months. Ive had this unit for a little over a year and knew to buy the 5 year extended warranty because of the last LG fridge that died 5 times in 4 years. That one was purchased through Sears. I wrote it up to being a lemon, but I was wrong. Apparently LG stands for Lemon Generator. My first failure on this unit was a Known Issue The sensor was in the wrong place and needed to be moved. Why sell a device you know if going to fail. This is now the 7th time since 2013 when an LG fridge went dead and I lost all of the food in the fridge and freezer. Yes, thanks to my service contracts I've been reimbursed, but I'd much rather have a FRIDGE THAT DOESN'T FAIL. Don't buy LG. I should have learned, but all the good reviews made me think I had a lemon. People should not be allowed to review products until they've actually used them for a while.
